About Culture Keepers: The Prince George’s African American Museum & Cultural Center (PGAAMCC) is proud to present Culture Keepers! Culture Keepers is an after school program for middle school and high school students. Students enrolled in the Culture Keepers program are researchers and teachers of African American history, art, and culture. Each year, Culture Keepers engage in innovative projects that interpret Prince George’s African American history, art, and culture through dynamic visual and performing arts events, such as mural projects, cultural exchanges, and community forums. Currently, PGAAMCC has partnered with Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) to implement the Culture Keepers program at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) Suitland High School.
Mission: To celebrate and inspire the community through the cultivation, preservation, and presentation of the cultural and artistic contributions of African Americans in Prince George’s County, MD, through creative and positive ambassadorships of young Prince George’s County residents.
Museum Location: 4519 Rhode Island Avenue, North Brentwood, MD. Weekly meetings each Thursday will take place in the Annex Building of Suitland High School.
