PGAAMCC Culture Keepers’ discuss their new cross-cultural education project ‘A Journey Through the African Diaspora’. Participating high school students will research the African Diaspora and engage in a cultural exchange with students in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This project is sponsored by PGAAMCC, Museums Connect, US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).
A Journey Through The Diaspora
The Prince George’s African American Museum & Cultural Center (PGAAMCC) and the Museu Afro-Brasil was awarded the 2013-2014 Museums Connect grant for the project A Journey through the African Diaspora. Both museums partnered with school groups within their local communities. Both school groups will work with their local museum to research the African Diaspora and engage in a Cultural Exchange in the spring of 2014. Museums Connect is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the American Alliance of Museums.
